There are westerns… and then there’s True Grit. A fourteen-year-old girl walks into a man’s world, hires the meanest marshal she can find to track down her father’s murderer, and simply refuses to take no for an answer. This Coen Brothers classic was filmed almost entirely in Colorado, and honestly, the mountains deserve co-star billing. Sharp dialogue, sweeping landscapes, and some of the most legendary performances in western movie history. Fun fact: production crews reportedly used flamethrowers to melt unexpected snow off the trees during filming.
