There are more than 8,000 public and private parking spaces downtown in on-street metered spots, garages, and open air lots accessible throughout downtown, including electric and Tesla charging stations.
Throughout the core of downtown, metered parking is in effect Monday through Saturday. Meters start either at 8 a.m. or 9 a.m., which will be stated on the meter itself, and all meters are free after 6 p.m. Newly updated meters take credit cards or coins. Older meters accept coins or Easy Park cards. Easy Park cards will not work in the credit card meters. The length of stay at meters varies from one hour to four hours.
Parking Meter Tips
Pay ahead. Breakfast meeting at 7:30 a.m.? No worries. If you pay a meter prior to 8 a.m., the time won't start ticking until the 8 a.m. "start" time. For example, if you pay for an hour at 7:00 a.m., your meter will be valid until 9 a.m. because 7-8 a.m. is at no charge, and the paid hour will start at 8 a.m.
Free meter days. Parking meters are free on the following holidays:
New Year's Day, January 1
Martin Luther King Jr Day, January 18
Presdient's Day, February 15
Memorial Day, May 30
Independence Day, July 4
Labor Day, September 5
Veterans Day, November 11
Thanksgiving Day, November 24
Day after Thanksgiving, November 25
Christmas Day, December 25
